Does your dog dream?
Just like you, your furry friends goes through sleep cycles. It’s those times when the body is at rest and the mind is reeling that dreams are made. Exactly what’s in those dreams is another question.

In his book How Dogs Think: Understanding the Canine Mind, author Stanley Coren states that dogs dream about common activities. They may be reliving the past – those squirrels in the park – or dreaming about the next big adventure with their buddy.

Some interesting “dog” facts:
  • It is a myth that dogs are color blind. They can see color, just not as vividly as humans.
  • Dogs have no sense of time.
  • A dog’s smell is 10,000 times stronger than humans.
  • Dalmatian puppies are born completely white. The spots develop as they mature.
  • Dogs nose prints are as unique as a human's finger prints and can be used to identify them.
  • Chocolate contains a substance known as theobromine (similar to caffeine) which can be fatal for dogs, or at the very least make them violently ill.
  • Dogs sweat through the pads on their feet.
  • Dogs have forty-two teeth.
  • A dog can hear sounds from 250 yards away.

Health Care 101: Cold weather and your pet
Cold weather poses special risks for pets, such as running out of water (frozen over), and increased pain from arthritis and overall sensitivity to the colder temperatures. Even short exposure to extreme cold temperatures can lead to frostbite of the feet, ears and nose. After letting your pet outside for a walk, etc., check and remove anysnow or ice inbetween the toes and toe pads. On the other hand, dryness in homes has its potential problems including dry noses and itchy, flaky skin. Consider using a humidifier and adding a coat conditioner to your pet's food to prevent constant scratching.
